Joint Parent Council and PTA Meeting
Our next meeting is today, Monday 20th November, in the Staff Room from 7.00 pm to approximately 8.00 pm. Please come along if you would like to get involved in fundraising activities or contribute to discussions about the education of all pupils in the school. Minutes from each meeting can be viewed here.
Thank you to everyone who returned the recent Questionnaire. Over ninety replies have been received, which we are very grateful for. We are collating the responses and will let you know of any developments that arise from them.
Our PTA Sponsored Pound event in October was very successful. The total amount raised was £1421. A very big thank you to Fiona Irwin from Wee Toon Warriors for leading the day and to all parents/carers and family members for your generous donations. PTA funds are used to provide valuable resources and activities for the pupils.
Our Book Fair this year has been a big success. Book sales were £1681, which we are estimating will lead to a figure in the region of £1000 being made available by Scholastic for us to buy books to support teaching and learning in our classrooms.
Children in Need
Last Friday was a very busy day in the school with our Talent Show and Bring and Buy Sale. The performers clearly enjoyed demonstrating their musical, singing, dancing and acting talents in the morning to the audience of their parents and families and the rest of the school. The afternoon involved high speed shopping at stalls manned by pupils from P5 to P7. The total amount raised for Children in Need was £886. Thanks to Mrs Watson who led the organisation of the day.
The Giving Machine
We are registered as a ‘Cause to Support’ on the online charity website ‘The Giving Machine’. You can join The Giving Machine and choose to support us through online shopping with some major online retailers. Every purchase made generates a donation to our PTA. If you are interested, please visit their website.
Each class has its own class library, which is made up of books purchased, collected and donated over the years. As the books are used constantly, it is always useful if the libraries are refreshed. We would be very happy to receive any donations of children’s books that you and your children no longer require and which could be put to good use by children in the school.
The Homework Heroes Club runs on Tuesdays from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The club is run by the Adult Learning Team and gives a chance for pupils to complete their homework for the week with their parents in a positive family atmosphere. Refreshments are available for all and games for the children for when the homework is finished. Please come along to Room LR5 (the first room on the right on the corridor leading from the Pupil Entrance to the Infant Area) with your child or let the school office know that you are interested.
