MacMillan Cancer Charity Coffee Morning
P2 and P3 raised £237 at their 'Coffee Morning' by selling cakes from a cake stall in Mrs Hill's classroom and serving juice and biscuits in Mrs Hurd's classroom. Well done to both classes and their teachers for a very successful morning.
Two pupils were selected to represent Castlehill on 5th November at the Argyll and Bute Area Swimming Trails in Helensburgh. Well done.
Children in Need
At 9.30am on Thursday morning this week the school will be holding its Children in Need Talent Show ‘Strictly Come Singalong’ organised by P7. Parents/family of those children performing in the show are very welcome. Children pay 10p to vote for their favourites and can vote as many times as they wish. Good luck to all those taking part. On Friday afternoon at 1.00pm there will be a Bring and Buy Sale for pupils.
PTA Quiz Night
The Quiz Night organised by the PTA will be taking place on Saturday 15th November at 8.00pm at the Stronvaar Bowling Club. Tickets are £10 per team and are available from the Fish Shop. There will also be a raffle on the night.
P1 to P3 Free School Meals Pilot
From January 2015 the Scottish Government plans to offer free school meals to all children in P1 to P3. To help prepare for the implementation of the policy, Argyll and Bute have planned pilot weeks in all schools. Next week from Monday 17th November will be Castlehill’s pilot week. Children are given the chance at class register time each morning to let their teacher know that they like a school meal on that day.
Parent / Carer Open Evenings
Open evenings for parents and carers will be held on:
-Tuesday 18th November from 3.30 to 5.00pm
-Wednesday 26th November from 7.00 to 9.00pm.
You will be able to visit your child’s classroom, see the work they have been doing this term and meet their class teacher. We hope that all parents and carers come along to one of the sessions. Individual appointments with class teachers will be held in February. If you would like to talk to your child’s class teacher or the Headteacher at any time, please contact the school office to make an appointment.
Kintyre Fun Food Festival
The Festival is the central event in the Food For Thought initiative that Castlehill, Dalintober and the Grammar School have been involved in this term. The event will be taking place at the Grammar School between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday 19th November. The Barrowband will be performing. All the pupils in Castlehill and Dalintober have taken part in workshops with the Barrowband, each class learning a different song. Those children who come along on the night will be able to join the Barrowband to sing the song they have learned. Tickets are £2 per person and can still be purchased by sending money into school.
In-service Day and Holiday
The school will be closed on Friday 21st for a Staff In-service day and on Monday 24th November for a holiday.
The School Nurse is planning to visit the school to carry out the annual Health Screening for P1 pupils on Wednesday 19th November and for P7 pupils on Wednesday 26th November.
Details of all school events taking place in December will follow shortly.
