March 2016

Scholastic Book Fair

This year’s Book Fair was very successful. Sales were over £1200 and the amount donated to the school by Scholastic for the purchase of books for the school was £725. Thanks to everyone who came to the Book Fair.

Playground Project

Thank you also if you have shopped at Tesco this week and voted for Castlehill’s Playground Project. There seemed to be a lot of tokens in our section of the token box in store. We will wait to hear which of the three amounts of £8,000, £10,000 or £12,000 we have been awarded.

Yellow Moon

Some of you may have purchased items from the Yellow Moon catalogue issued from the school in previous years.    Yellow Moon is a fundraising branch of Baker Ross and has many arts and crafts ideas and products for sale. We have been asked by Yellow Moon to let you know that the Yellow Moon Fundraising Scheme operates online only now and that they have simplified their cash-back rate on products to 10% on everything. If you visit the website and buy any of their products, please enter Castlehill’s source code SCA 1552, when you place an order, to raise money for the school.

Rag Bag

The collection in the Autumn term raised £40. Thank you to Mrs Ronald and P4 for continuing to organise the collections.

Spring Concert

Our Spring Concert, with ‘A Night at the Movies’ as our theme, will take place in school on the evenings of Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st   March.  Doors will open from 7.00 pm and each performance will start at 7.30 pm.  Tickets (priced £3) are on sale at the school.  If you would like to purchase tickets, please send money in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, class and number of tickets required and for which evening clearly stated on the front. There will be no charge for pre-school children, provided they are sitting on their parent’s knee. The number of tickets will be limited to a maximum of four per pupil until Monday 14th March, after which purchase of additional tickets will be possible, subject to availability. (If paying by cheque, please make cheques payable to Castlehill General Purpose Fund.)

In order to comply with fire regulations, pupils will not be allowed back into the hall after their performance but will return to their classrooms where they will be supervised by school staff. Parents not attending the concert will be able to collect their children from the classrooms at the following times:  pupils in P1, P2 and P3 at 8.15pm;  pupils in P4 to P7 at the end of the show, approximately 9.15pm.  We would like to ask all parents who are attending the concert to remain in the audience until the end of the performance to avoid distraction to the performing classes.

There will be a raffle on both concert nights. Donations of items for the hamper prizes would also be greatly appreciated and can be handed in to the school.
