Better Movers Thinkers
Andy Dalziell, an Education Scotland consultant, visited the school last week to deliver a lesson to every class to promote the Better Movers Thinkers approach to learning in PE, linking thinking and moving skills. Andy and Rona Young, Argyll and Bute’s PE Coordinator, commented again very positively on the behaviour and readiness to learn of all pupils.
Each year pupils in P1 and P7 year groups have dental inspections, organised by the Public Dental Service. We were very pleased to receive feedback from the dental team that no tooth decay was reported for any child in P1 or P7, and that we were the only school so far in Argyll and Bute to receive such positive feedback.
Arts and Craft Club
The Adult Learning Team have been running a successful Arts and Crafts Club for P1 to P3 pupils and their parents after school on Mondays this half-term. We will hope to build on this partnership to provide further opportunities for parents and pupils in the future.
PTA / Parent Council
Thank you very much to the parents who organised the Valentines Discothon in February. The pupils that came to either the P1 to P4 or P5 to P7 discos certainly enjoyed the music supplied by Jamie G. A fantastic sum of £918 was raised. Thank you to everyone who sponsored the children.
This year a fundraising raffle has also been organised. The Co-op has kindly agreed for the PTA / Parent Council to be able to sell tickets this coming Saturday, 25th March, between 9.30 and 4.30pm in the shop’s entrance area. Parent volunteers will be selling tickets. If you are able to help sell tickets for an hour on the day and would like to volunteer to do so, please contact the school office.
The PTA / Parent Council are holding a coffee afternoon on Saturday 22 April in the Victoria Hall 2pm to 4pm. Any donations for the raffle, bottle stall, baking stall and bric-a-brac will be gratefully received. Any items can be handed in to school or on the day.
There will be a PTA meeting on Monday 27th March at 7.00 pm in school specifically about planning for the Coffee Afternoon.
We recently learned that this year’s P6 team came an impressive 4th in the Argyll and Bute section of the Euroquiz competition this year. Well done!
