News from December 2014
December was a very busy month for school activities. Thank you to everyone who supported and contributed to them. The Christmas Craft Fayre and Concert raised a total of £802. Half of the money raised is being donated to the Kintyre Kidney Dialysis and half to school funds. All of the pupils in the school took part in the making of the gifts on sale and over twenty-five children performed on stage.
The school choir again gave an excellent performance in the Salvation Army Town Carol Service. The choir also performed at the Music Club’s Christmas Evening and for the residents at Kintyre Nursing Home. Thanks to Mrs Hill for leading the choir.
The Nativity Performance by P1 and P2 was very successful. £143 was raised through the collection on the day. A further £118 was raised by the raffle for the cake kindly made by Nicola Blackstock from Campbeltown Grammar School. Both amounts are valuable contributions to school funds. P1 and P2 also visited Auchinlee to sing some of their songs for the residents. Thank you to Mrs Galbraith, Mrs Reid and Mrs Hill, and also to Mr McEwan for giving up his time to play the piano for the performance.
December’s Rag Bag collection, led by Mrs Ronald and P4, raised £70 for school funds.
School funds are used to help provide additional activities and resources for all pupils, such as the performance of the Firebird by the West Midlands Theatre Company in October last year.
Mrs Hardman entered P6 in an online Maths Contest 'Sum Dog'. The class did amazingly well. They came 12th out of the 38 schools from Argyll and Bute that entered. They were then entered into the 'Sum Dog' national Christmas competition and they came 19th overall out of 1833 classes who entered. Well done, P6!
