April 2014

Brass Group

Pupils from Castlehill together with ex-Castlehill pupils now at the Grammar School were invited to perform as a Brass Group led by their tutor, Mr Stone, at Argyll and Bute’s Raising Attainment conference in Oban on March 11th.  Their performance followed the speech by Michael Russell, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning.  Well done to all involved.

Spring Concert

Thank you to everyone who came to the School Concert.  The pupils and staff put in an amazing amount of effort to put on a tremendously varied and entertaining performance.  The evenings also raise very valuable funds.  The PTA raffle raised £782 and ticket sales raised £1373 for school funds.  A big ‘Thank you’ to everybody who was involved in organising this great evening.

Rotary Club Quiz

Pupils from P7 took part in the Rotary Club's annual South Kintyre General Knowledge Quiz.  They narrowly lost out to Dalintober.  Well done to the four pupils who took part.

Sport Relief

Pupils from P6 and P7 completed their Sport Relief mile on Sport Relief Friday on 21st March.  They completed eleven laps of the back playground and were enthusiastically supported and cheered on by the rest of the school.  It was very impressive to see the commitment of the runners and the support from the children in other classes.  The run followed weekly fitness sessions for the pupils organised by Mrs Ramsay, Active Schools Coordinator.  All schools in South Kintyre took part.  Between them the schools have raised over £1000 for Sport Relief.
