Thank you to everyone who has helped to organise, take part in or support the number of events that have taken place this term. The support and contributions are very much appreciated.
In Comic Relief week, P7 organised parties for P1 to P3 classes and Beat the Goalie and Splat the Pupil activities for P4 to P6. P6 also helped by taking a lead in a Bring and Buy sale for all children. Individual pupils also raised money through a variety of sponsoring ideas. The total raised for Comic Relief was £810!
Children have been involved in many activities beyond the classroom:
In March, Mrs Reid and Mrs Galbraith organised a Healthy Me day involving the Nursery and P1 and P1/2.
All P1 and P2 children recently watched a performance of Twit a Woo by the Vision Mechanics Theatre Company.
Last Friday, P2 welcomed their parents and carers to their classroom to see the work they have done during their Space topic this term and for a class performance of Little Moon.
P3 have enjoyed their Streetfeet Road Safety programme of lessons and Active Schools Tesco Bank football sessions
P4 and P5 have had the opportunity to take part in swimming, fitness and library sessions this term.
P5 have also enjoyed Samba workshops and Active Schools Club Golf lessons.
Mr Baxter from Campbeltown Grammar School has provided history lessons for P6 and P7, and P7 were given the chance to learn about the Sea Cadets from a visiting officer.
This term P7 have held their first two events to raise funds for their residential trips to Edinburgh and Ardentinny. On 4th February Mrs Watson and the class invited every other class in turn into the Gym Hall to take part in a class Beetle Drive. P7 pupils helped all day at each table. Pupils paid 50p to take part and the total raised was £82.
On Friday 20th March P7 performed a very entertaining and memorable Fashion Show for the rest of the school and for their own parents, carers and families. They raised a further £125 to go towards their trips. Well done, P7!
The Scholastic Bookfair was held during our Parent/Carer evenings in February. Total sales were £701. Scholastic have made a contribution of £350 to school funds to purchase books as a result of the sales.
The amount raised by the PTA’s Danceathon in February was an amazing £1066. Every child took part in the activity. Thanks to Morgan and Fiona Irwin and Catherine McLean for organising and leading the Danceathon and to everyone who donated money by sponsoring a pupil.
School sweatshirts are available to buy from Wee Toon Sports. We also have a stock of sweatshirts, with the printed logo, still available in some sizes to buy from the school office, now at the reduced price of £3.00.
End of Term Service
Parents / carers, family and friends are invited to join us for the end of term church service with Dalintober, which will be held in the Lorne and Lowland Church on the last day of term, Thursday 2nd April at 2 pm. After the service the children will return to school. To ensure the safe collection of the children at the end of the day, they will be dismissed as on normal school days at 3.15 pm into the front playground.
School will re-open after the Easter holiday on Monday 20th April.
